Now that we are starting to get out of the house and go back to 'normalcy,' it's essential you look good doing when you step out into the world.
Recently, Vogue published an article on the Spring 2021 fashion trends. Here's the rundown on what they said and my take on the trends for this year.
One of the trends Vogue is predicting is body-revealing clothing. This spring season is about clothing that shows some skin, showing legs with short skirts, or wearing cropped tops. For over a year, we have all been lounging in comfy sweat sets or oversized clothing. But now it is time to break away from the loungewear and take risks and start wearing more revealing outfits.
A central theme for the 2021 trends is celebrating ourselves and our bodies. Suppose you do not want to wear clothing that shows skin but still want that sensual look, opt for wearing tight, stretchy clothing. If you're going to move away from slouchy outfits, body-hugging dresses, tops, and skirts are the perfect option for you.
For those who are not ready to say goodbye to their loungewear, do not worry. The other trend that will be prevalent is trousers. I think wide-leg, roomy trousers are a perfect alternative to loungewear and not only will you be comfortable at home but you will also be ready to take on the world.
If you are not sold by trousers, there is another alternative to comfy loungewear, ribbed knitwear. A knit pair of pants or sweater is a great way to feel comfortable at home, but also you can step out the door and make a fashion statement. Knit clothing is very versatile. You can dress it up or down, and it goes with almost anything.
Spring 2021 is all about making a statement and having your clothing do the talking! We will see vibrant and exciting surface patterns for shirts, dresses, pants, etc. Swirling patterns, psychedelic prints, and bright pops of color spice up an outfit will be all the rage for this Spring.
Now we all know history repeats itself and fashion brands love bringing back old trends. For this Spring, the 80s puffed sleeve is back! A common trend for this season is taking risks and having fun with your clothing. Puffy sleeves on a dress or shirt are a fun way to add a daring statement to your outfit!
The overall theme of the trends of 2021 is making a statement and embracing a revitalized look. Whether that means surprising silhouettes, outrageous color combos, or sparks of nostalgia, Spring 2021 clothing will not be boring. As we inch closer to opening the world again, these trends will get people excited to get dressed and celebrate clothing again.
I, too, like to stay up to date on what the trends are for the year, so I appreciate your time writing this post. I think it will be interesting, while things are opening up, to see what the trends will be. I believe showing skin will be a massive hit because of the number of sweat pants worn during the pandemic. I like how you talked about both sides of things because although some may want to say goodbye to comfy clothing, others are not ready to leave them behind. I think knitwear is a perfect alternative to sweatpants and a sweatshirt because you can dress it up and down, maybe with some trousers??? Like I said before, I…
Thank you for updating me on what I should and should not be wearing in 2021. I have found that the prospect of putting on a pair of jeans is very daunting. I have been living in athleisure clothing for the past year and a half, and I have no intention of stopping. The constant comfort of hoodies is not an aspect of quarantine that I am ready to leave in the past. I do not see myself looking great in trousers, however, I do enjoy ribbed knitwear. As you mentioned, knit is very versatile and may be worn in different climates. I live in the mountains, where it is very cold in the winter, so I cherish my sweaters.…
As someone who loves the idea of fashion but struggles with it’s personal application, I love this article. I’ve been really enjoying wearing pajamas all year, and in the new world I want to take these flowing silhouettes and embellish them. You offer a lot of great ideas to achieve this like wearing trousers, ribbed knitwear, and puffed sleeves. I will definitely be on the lookout for those items when I go thrifting. My all time favorite color is purple but recently I’ve become obsessed with green so I can’t wait to experiment with combining them through prints and patterns.
